I love pontifex, and I just want to say that I'm behind Chronic Logic in whatever they decide to do next.

I loved the first contest, and I advise that everyone read through the old contest posts to see what people thought of the rules.

It would be great to have an official records page.  It's like a contest you can compete in over and over again.

I may be wrong about this, but I really want to get my hands on the contest winning bridges too.  I wish that you guys could host the winning bridge files on your site so we can try to improve them.  That might lead to arguments and intellectual property lawsuits though.

I'm really curious to know the nature of the new project that Chronic Logic will let us test.  Can you tell us if it uses the same cool stress engine?  Can you tell us anything about it?? (wink wink, nudge nudge)

Anyway, you guys rock, keep up the good work, and don't be confined by what you've done in the past.  You've made your mark by taking a new direction in gaming, so taking another new direction couldn't be that bad.

DarkWolfNine's mappack is the best so far. It even uses custom textures.

I'd suggest taking custom texture organisation into your own hands, so that we don't make a mess of the numbering system, and so that textures can be used freely between map packs.

Thank you for your support street, and to everyone else who has supported us.  I am hoping to get a 2nd contest started as early as next week.  All I can tell you about our current project right now is that it will be very different from Pontifex.  It will have great physics of course and be a lot of fun but the similarities will end there.

Perhaps I should set up an e-mail for people to send their map packs to, so we can look em over and post the best ones for people to download off the page.  How does that sound to everyone?

So what's the deal with this new project?  will it be free to paying pontifexors?  is it separate?

That would be good community relations management! :)

Well, not too long ago, my entire C: got wiped and the other hard disk started developing bizzare problems. Other than losing my 4 gigs of mp3s, all my musical compositions/recording, a lot of my graphics work, etc., I lost Pontifex (not that big a deal), my records page log (not that big a deal either, I can get it off the forums), and all my record bridges.

I'm trying right now to get my computer back on its feet and see how much of my various projects I can salvage. If I'm lucky, I'll make it in time for the second contest, but for now, the unofficial records log is ding dong dead. Too many of the bridges the records are based on are now nonexistant. Hopefully, CL will get their server business settled soon and get the official records page running.

Click here for the full story of my puter problems, for those interested and with nothing better to do with their time. =)

;) Kvinge has returned! ;) I was starting to worry about the community, but it appears it is back in full swing with the addition of a new contest, great going! :) An e-mail for map packs would definately help create even more activity. I look forward to it. (Though don't expect to see any maps from me, I just don't have the knack for it!) I'm excited to see a new member of the CL team. I wish you the best of luck on your next project!

Nice to see the community 'back at work'  :)

I just realized this a bit too late to build a nice
contest bridge - my cheap copy of the last winning design will not win this one :(

Grats to the new Maximus - whoever will make it this time!

street: drop me a message including your email and I'll put my bridge there..

Josiah: Hi from Austria! (and feel free to put my bridges wherever you want :)

Woohoo! :)

A question: Is CL going to create a high score/record page for Pontifex and maybe also the promised Hall of Fame now?

Our new project will be a totally separate game and unrelated to Pontifex.  However we will continue to support Pontifex and the Pontifex Gaming Community.

Sorry that you have heard very little from us these last few weeks.  We have been busy working away on a number of projects.  I cannot give you the details now, but soon we will have good news for all you Bridge Builder and Pontifex fans.

Grey right now we are working on moving our web page to another web host.  After we have finished with the move we will look into setting up  additional pages for Pontifex.

I am all for moving to another web host. Given the problems you have had with this one that is a great idea.

Josiah, are you guys planning to release updated versions and new map packs for Pontifex in the future?

Well I can't say to much, but there will be something new from Chronic Logic in the next couple of days.  It will not be Pontifex related.

Chillum, we are not currently working on an update for Pontifex.  After the contest ends and we get our web site moved we will look into these possibilities.  We were also hoping that some players would create some map packs for others to use, if ones were good enough we could put them up for download on our site.

Hmm... just wondering... 'couple' means 'about two', doesn't it? I'm starting to doubt this somehow ;)

First let me introduce myself.  My name is Josiah Pisciotta and I am the newest addition to the Chronic Logic team.  I the new online community relations manager for Chronic Logic.  I would like to address a couple of issues and get everyone up to date with Chronic Logic.  First off I would like to apologize for the lack of involvement from Chronic Logic in the Community.  After the massive push to get Pontifex released on time, the Pontifex team needed a break from Pontifex.  That combined with the frustration we have been experiencing with our web host had lead to a period of very little activity on the Pontifex web site.  As many of you have noticed this forum and other parts of the web site have been down a number of different times.  Much of this down time has been caused by someone hacking into our site and deleting or replacing files.  Also our web host M6 is slow to respond to our needs.  None of this is justification for our lack of involvement in the Pontifex community, but I just wanted to let everyone know what has been going on with our web site.  We are currently talking with M6 about the problem with our site getting hacked and looking for a new web host that will fit our needs better.  I would also like to let everyone know that Chronic Logic will be more active with the Pontifex Community.  I would like to hear what additions everyone would like to see in the Pontifex community.  As for Chronic Logic, I am happy to let everyone know that we have moved into a new office and are working full time.  We will be maintaining Pontifex as well as working on a new project that our Pontifex members will have the opportunity to see first when its ready for beta.

Welcome to the forum!

Would it be possible to give us some idea what's in the pipeline for the near future? Competitions, new levels, new versions, that kind of thing?

To answer your question Chillum, the first thing Pontifex will have is another contest.  As I said before we have started work on a new project and most of our effort will be going towards that, but we will be maintaining our commitment to our loyal Pontifex members in every way that we can.  I would like to hear from the community what they would like to see the most, and see how we can work with everyone's ideas.

Hi Josiah,

From my point of view, offering files in some kind of repository would be really good.  That way it's easy to hold files in one place that everyone can have access to.  Perhaps it could be done as anonymous FTP or some way that users can easily 'post' their levels automatically.  I've got a simple CGI script on my website atm generating a levels directory for files I've FTPd, but there's no way to post levels automatically.

Definitely a new competition would be great though!

Paul.
