Title: whats the point?
Post by: squarkyd on December 02, 2012, 12:34:02 PM
Big fan of the Bridge Builder series of games but I must say Bridge Project has been a let down for me.
Other than the graphical improvements and the addition of weather/quakes it seems to just be a step back in terms of gameplay!

I completed all the rather lackluster levels over the course of a week so I decided to create my own, only to find the editor only supports a 50m span and has a measly 1000m limit on all materials, kind of takes the fun out of building big impressive bridges when you are only allowed to supply your self with enough metal to only just bridge the gap, let alone put in any impressive arcs/trusses/draw sections etc.

So I ask - what the point of the game?  Previous games were more challenging, had more features, allowed you to build your own levels to the grandest scale you could imagine, had more variety, oh - and the stress display actually worked and meant something.

It's going to take one mother of a patch and some decent map packs to bring it up to scratch with the legacy titles (and to get me to bother opening it again).

agreed on all points.

though I'm not a good bridge builder at all, I love and miss the freedom of BCS.

I immediately purchased Bridge Project hoping it would be a combination of the nice visuals of Bridge It and the physics of BCS, but that hope was very far from the truth.

Bridge Project offers several features not available in BCS or Bridge It such as the online scoring, wood, concrete materials and additional testing vehicles.  I am hoping to have it improved in other areas with an update though.

A very poor effort I am affraid to say. Clunky, very little variety in each section, just variations on a theme with different backdrops, and sound effects that would shame a vic 20.

Extremely disapointed after the originality, of the original bridge building games.

Also can you tell me what is the difference between this and bridge builder 2? A friend of mine has it, I was going to get it then saw this had come out.
as I thought that with all the other chronic logic games it would be a sight better. Wrong

Bridge Builder 2 is the non US market version of Bridge Project.  They are identical.  We are also hoping to get a patch which will add some improvements the game.
