Title: Tilesets
Post by: Sendy on April 15, 2005, 06:12:45 PM
Forgive my noobishness - I have tackled all the regular aspects of level making very nicely and will post at least 2 very involved and detailed custom levels soon, but I'd like to know how to add my own tiles. From what one of you said a while ago, it seems the tileset you make in the tileset editor is saved with the level, including images, so how would I go about importing my own graphics in here?

I'd like to modify some existing tiles (to make different gradients), and also make (or aquire/rip/download) some new level themes.

Particularly I want an Icy tileset, Imagine the fun you could have with that, setting the friction on all the icy blocks to really low  :D . Also I'd like a Futuristic looking tileset like Scrap Brain Zone from Sonic. I mean, considering all the devices you can build with pistons and objects etc, I think that theme would work well. Either that or something mechanical and clockwork-looking, maybe with animated gearwheels for the background.

Yes, they are stored inside the level with some encryption.

To add them to your level save them in tilex and drag them over in the editor.

Oh... I thought tilex was some kinda tile making program

I was looking at the tile files a minute ago. I don't have any program which will edit .tga files... I suppose I need an art program or something.
