Title: 12/14/05 - Current Projects
Post by: Chronic Logic - Josiah on December 14, 2005, 08:19:41 PM
The new Mac just arrived today.  I will be trying to get the OSX contest 28 demo of BCS built quickly so that Mac users can still participate.  Hopefully getting the new Mac setup won't take long and everything will go smoothly with setting it up to build the contest demo.  For some reason it never seems to work like that though :)  I am also continuing to make some minor changes to the web site.  I have added the option of order several games as a Gift.  This allows you to purchase a game for someone else and have the registration information for the purchase be for whom you wish to give the game to instead of being registered to you.  Also reinstalling Windows on one of the computers here, Windows decided to stop working as it does sometimes.  Fun fun :)

I'm wondering, what happened to the old Mac?

Not sure what happened exactly, but it needed a new power supply and northern hemisphere.  Was going to cost more to fix it then it cost new.  Now it's an extreamly large paper weight.

Must be one of the most expensive paperweights. :)

Haha yes it is :(  I did manage to take the hard drive out and make it into a portable firewire drive, which is nice.  I am going to put the memory into a PC as well.  I dont think there is much use for the rest of it though :(

That FW drive is a good thing. Also an easy way to get your data back. Is it large enough to be really useful?

Perhaps you can take more stuff out for multiple, less expensive paperweights? (for lack of a better idea)

Probably also useful if you need to move large files around. Most internet connections tend to be a little slow at downloading gigabytes of data, let alone uploading. Uploading 40 GB would take me nearly a week. :) (or maybe :()

When we get a Intel based Mac we will work on releasing universal binaries.  Currently we do not have a Intel Mac at our disposal.
