Title: Can't save levels!
Post by: anaconda894 on May 23, 2006, 04:03:15 PM
Okay, so I made this fun 2-player amber level called Tarzan, and I tried to save, but I didn't know how. I tried apple-S, control-S, etc.

Then I checked the gisheditor.txt and saw that it was F9. So I tried F9. Then I tried apple-F9. Then fn-F9. Then control-F9. Then 9. Then apple-9. Then fn-9. Then control-9. Then alt-9.

In case it makes any difference, I'm using a Mac OS X iBook.
Can someone help?
???

Gish doesn't use a conventional user interface. If you hit F9 and F9 isn't bound to something else (Exposť?), it'll try to save it, even though no dialog or anything else shows up. It should end up in the level folder inside your gish folder. You can check by looking for your level in the Finder, or loading another level and again your level (but that'll destroy your work if it couldn't save it for some reason). If you find that it doesn't save your level in the gish/level folder, make sure you can write to it (permissions).

Another stupid question if anyone wants to waste their time! How do I stop the stuff from being all weird and colorful and different shapes when I load them? I'm not sure what's going on.

I don't know the cause, but I do have a fix (at least it works for me): save and load the level (that is, simply press F9 and then F7 when you see the mess).
