We hope to have a Linux version of Kingdom Elemental, but it will depends on the success of the Windows version, as we need the game to fund the development of the OSX and Linux versions.  I will post any new news about the Linux and OSX versions when I have it.

Thanks again, josiah.
Hope the sales will go well enough to get a port done.

We are still working on making the Windows version successful so we can develop the OSX and Linux versions so no new news yet.

Hi Josiah.

Today i've got the news about Kingdom Elemental released as a boxed version by Halycon Media.
So i just want to ask for some news about a version for other platforms, especially linux in my case.

Sheridan

Hey Sheridan,

Nothing yet, we are actually looking at new engine to use but it does not seem like many support Linux :(

What engine are you using at the moment?

Take a look at the ogre engine. Maybe that thing is what you're searching for?

Kingdom Elemental was created using Blitz3d.  I have checked out ogre3d as well as several others.  We are looking at the Unity engine which supports OSX but does not support Linux as far as I can tell :(

And what's your conclusion about the ogre engine so far?

It looks interesting but from what I can tell it is just a graphics engine.  The other developer is looking for more then that in an engine.  We will see what happens.

Ok. Thanks anyway. Hopefully that title will find it's way to linux too again.

Thanks for your patience.

Would definitely be cool to have a port of this game to Linux, but for the people that want to play it, it seems to run fine in wine. There are some issues with the resolution changing but that's solved by running it using the virtual desktop feature in wine.

Definitely a fun game, any news on whether this game will be ported or not?

Good news that it runs in wine.  We don't currently have any plans to port it to Linux.  It was developed in Blitz3d which does not support Linux :(  Looking forward we are trying to assure that any future versions will support Linux.  It is always our goal to support operating systems that provide an alternative to Windows.

Never used any of the Blitz products, but is their any compatibility between Blitz3d and Blitzmax?

They are similar products but BlitzMax is only 2d :(  They are supposed to be working on a 3d version but I don't know if they are even still working on it.
