Danny, if you are still able to log in to the members section of chroniclogic, you simply have to visit downloads section again (http://www.chroniclogic.com/mmbottom4.asp, but log in first) to download the latest version of Pontifex (1).

Gray, you rock as always.

I really should read things more carefully. I'm looking forward to telling my Long-Haired friend that there will be Mac version. He gets so worked up when games are ported to Linux but not Mac. This will soothe him. We might even get a new member because of it. I'll also be sure to point out the excellent deal whereby you buy Pontifex and get so Pfx 2 for only บ

Yay for Chronic Logic for doing a Linux port. My Apple friend  - the long haried hippy  - wants to know if they have any plans to port it to Mac too.

Some quick comments on the (scant) info released so far.

  • LOD landscape - what does this mean?
  • Single-link beams - cool. Very BB
  • Joints can rotate - also cool. Again, adding the groovy features of BB back in.
  • Drawbridges - a function of the rotatable joints?
  • Flexible level editing - ooh. can't wait to hear more about this,

In general, looks good. So good that I ordered within moments of hearing about it. For £6. What a bargain.

Gray: "Is that water really what it looks like, i.e. the more water is between you and the bottom the darker / less transparent it gets? Is 'volumetric' the right word for that?"

I thought that PFX1 was a bit like that already. Start a new level, move down near the bottom and select Water. Now drag it up over your 'head'. The further you go, the bluer it gets. Or am I missing something?

Next Version Ideas / Mousewheel support
August 30, 2002, 03:08:28 PM
I really like that idea.

Since I got my new mouse-with-a-wheel I use it for everything. Scrolling down long files, changing weapons in Quake, even Mozilla has support for mouse wheels now.

I hope this feature is implemented in Pontifex 2...

Thanks gray. I've updated the writeup to reflect the move of the contest to your site. I also added some teaser info on Pontifex 2 - but I shall update it (and perhaps create a new Pontifex 2 writeup) once I get my hands on the demo and the game.

Thanks for taking the time to read the writeup. I hope it encourages others to try the demo and join our fine little community.

Oh, I must node Triptych at some point too.

I'm a long-time user of everything2.com - which is a Wiki-like web database. When I first discovered Pontifex I decided to add an article, or 'writeup', all about it. I talk about the gameplay and cite some good links for people to follow.

You can find it http://everything2.com/index.pl?node=Pontifex" target="_blank"> here. If you spot anything wrong with it, or would like to add something to it, do let me know.
