Gish Support / key-problem
May 30, 2004, 10:52:59 PM
yes.. i was wondering the same thing. I actually like putting games on CDs that I buy online, so i can install them any time if anything happens. i don't like the idea of the 'registering online' or having to check your 'unique key' manually either. That makes it so you must go to their website to activate it... which is a bit silly. People probably will hack the program and distribute it eventually, of course. Those people will even have the luxury of being able to back it up, but here I am, a registered customer, not able to do something like that.

On a tangent, I've been screwed by copy protection for games I bought twice so far this month... Once by Operation Flashpoint and Beyond Divinity have both told me I'm a pirate (in a less direct manner) despite having bought the games at respectable retailers. I have virus scanned with Norton, cleaned adware with Adaware and Spybot, and my CD-ROM works perfectly. I just am tired of being treated like a pirate. People who illegally download games certainly don't have to deal with these issues. It's not fair, and I think that something should change

Gish Support / wine & gish, registration

not to be a jerk, but let me take this opportunity to once again point out that mandatory online registration is a bad bad thing. I wish this could be taken out of Gish. Please please...

Gish Support / hat buttons on joysticks
May 25, 2004, 03:27:46 AM
hat buttons on joysticks don't work, and all of the PC controllers i happen to have use the joystick 'hat' at the directional pad. It would be awesome if Gish allowed use of those.

General Discussion / Gish on Sony PSP?
May 28, 2004, 08:51:36 PM
I think that this game would even be awesome one the big three (PS2, Game Cube, XBox). Imagine playing Gish on the TV with a PS2 controller ^^ (Well.. technically you could, with a TV out and PS2 controller adapter) but you know what I mean. The audience it would reach would be much greater too. If you could find a publisher... It's not really that simple though ^^

General Discussion / Who has beat Gish?
May 25, 2004, 03:10:18 AM
Whoo... I beat Gish after probably a good 5 hours (mostly on the church levels -_- ) It was fun! Now I'm having fun playing with the vs mode! When/if the level editor comes out, that'll really be the main focus of the game for me ^^ Hopefully you can not only make 1 player levels, but also vs mode levels!

Speaking of enough levels, has anyone found the secret levels yet? I've been looking all over for them, but it's no good. Can't find them.

General Discussion / Thoughts of a new player
May 28, 2004, 09:00:20 PM
I agree that some of the parts are instant death the first time, and I also think that a major design flaw in the game is that you must restart a chapter... and do EVERYTHING over again. I think that starting the level over is punishment enough.

I disagree that deaths caused by butterfly effect are something they should try to fix: It would be near impossible to do with the physics based nature. That's physics for you. But this fits in with the punishment that you must restart the chapter. The only way i beat the church levels was by sheer luck. I must have played that chapter over 20 times. You shouldn't have to be punished for those times you die with no warning/weren't your fault. You should have to start the level over at most. It shouldn't track lives.

And we all want a level editor ^^

That chain breaking is pretty impressive.

In level 3-4 there is a part where columns shoot out of the ground. If you catch onto one and ride it up, you can grab a wall very high up and find another warp zone up there.

Well I understand why they recalled it. I'm just confused as to what this whole 'new level' thing is about.

General Discussion / New Level?

So are you saying that that isn't the level editor, and it's time to be sad... Or are you saying that it's the level editor, but there's a bug that makes it not work, and we will all rejoice when you fix it?

Oh... And when try to cycle levels with r/f keys, r works fine, but f won't take me back a level.

Gish's copy of the Bridge Construction Set? Where can I find it?
