BCS General / *** CATAPULTS ***

G'day,

Wow its been a while since I've played Pontifex (now BCS) but things have certainly improved on the already legendary game.

Does anyone remember the catapult levels a few of us used to make?  Well I did a search on the BCS forums and found nothing so I assume nobody is building them.  With that in mind I'm gonna attempt to bring back the catapults! I reckon it'd also be cool to redo the elevator idea again.

Does anyone here remember what I'm talking about?

New Levels / Non-Bridges
April 22, 2002, 02:25:12 AM
I just thougth I'd start a new non-bridge post area as nobody has talked about this since feb.

Is anyone still making these levels, I was thinking of maybe setting up a challenge where you have to build a sling shot that throws a single piece of concrete decking the longest distance at the cheapest cost.

Is anyone interested in this?

also, I'm going to start making roller coaster levels again soon.  Anyone have any ideas to make them interesting or even a challenge similar to the above?

I mostly drive the HAV over coaster levels.  You can get some serious air if you make a big dipper style ramp down with a lip at the bottom.

About my coaster level, I lost my copy for good http://www.pontifex2.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':('> but I was playing around with a new one las night, I'll post it as soon as its ready

Roller Coasters have been made before, I made one but it's since been deleted from the website that was hosting it.

If you like making things other than bridges (coasters, sling slots, etc) then head over to the New Bridges forum topic.  There are a fair few regulars making these sorts of bridges.

I'm thinking of setting up a sling shot distance challenge soon...

yeah, now theres an idea for the next version.  An express train would make things that bit harder...

it would be good if the next version had completly solid concrete.  It doesn't affect 'normal' gameplay but for us laterals who like making sling shots and roller coasters, it certainly stop the HAV from pushing through the decking if it hits hard enough.

How about a thirdperson view for the Train and HAV?

As well as that, an Action replay system would be excellent.  Especially if you can save a load replays...

Has any work been done to put collision detection on for all beams? this would be a great addition to the next version...
