General Discussion / Which version is the German release?
November 04, 2005, 09:38:59 PM
Thank you very much, Josiah. The German 1.43 patch works. Unfortunately the trainer still doesn't work. But at least I have 1.43 now.

General Discussion / What do you like most about Gish?
November 03, 2005, 11:43:32 PM
I love it because...
- it's 2D
- it's a jump & run game
- the physics in the game are nice
- the main character is made of tar
- it has a creepy atmosphere
- there are 2 alternative endings
- it has a level editor
- the graphics look nice, especially the light reflections on Gish
- Gish can be sticky and heavy

General Discussion / ::SPOILERS::
November 03, 2005, 11:33:30 PM
Someone here in the forum wrote the following. I saved it into a text file. Unfortunately, I don't know who wrote it:

"Secret Warp zones:
Warp to Mario level 1-2 - On level 1-3 Bash through the 1st set of spikes to the left of the 1st suspended platform fall down the passage and break the Question mark block to warp.Warp to Pitfall - On level 2-1 pull the 1st vertical platform to the left, climb the ceiling and drop down using heavy to break through the ground fall down the passage and into a room with a giant pitfall Harry sprite to warp.Warp to Pac-man-On level 4-4 right before the collapsing pillars climb under the 1st overhang and break through the wall, fall down the passage and into pacmans mouth to warp.Warp to the isle of the dead-On level 3-4 in the room where the skulls fly out of the ground run and grab onto the 1st skull platform that shoots out, ride it up into the air till you see a platform marked 666, jump to that platform to warp.Satans layer-Complete isle of the dead.

Just for the sake of completeness:
There is a secret warp zone in mario level which allows you to warp to levels 2-1, 3-1 and 4-1 respectively. It is located behind the exit tube, so you have to climb on top of the ceiling and continue walking to the right. There will be a room with three tubes.. the leftmost one brings you to 4-1. Very much mario style"

Huh, I havent seen alot of the ones listed on here.

Many of those monsters aren't in Gish but belong to "The Badlands" ("world" invented by graphic designers). Look here: http://www.diverge.ws/index2.php?page=characters" target="_blank">http://www.diverge.ws/index2.php?page=characters

General Discussion / GISH Trainer 1.0
November 03, 2005, 10:51:57 PM
This trainer is very good (especially because it's the only trainer which works for me ;) ).

Kampfschaf, did you program the trainer by yourself? Using C++ or some other programming language?

General Discussion / Multiplayer online?
November 03, 2005, 10:49:22 PM
Such a mode would be very very cool! Unfortunately, I doubt that the programmers will add a multiplayer mode for internet / LAN. However, I would be amazed (and grateful) if it would happen. I'm imaging how it would be like to play VS mode with people all around the world... It would certainly rock! Or playing collection mode in a ladder where the best times are stored.

Maybe even some users could program a multiplayer protocol for Gish... It would be incredibly hard though without having the source-code.

Or maybe an online mode will be added in a Gish 2. I'd like it (and buy the game http://67.15.141.32/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'> ).

Ok old driv plugged in an im about to patch gish,
are there any tutorials on level editing?

There are tutorials! Kampfschaf made video tutorials for the level editor. It might be hard to understand at times (thick German accent) but one also learns a lot by watching.

You can get the tutorials here having registered yourself: http://gish.gi.funpic.de/" target="_blank">http://gish.gi.funpic.de/

The "GishEditor.txt" in your Gish directory is also very useful, e.g. for a overview about the tilesets and the controls in the editor.

General Discussion / Which version is the German release?
November 03, 2005, 10:33:49 PM
I bought the German release of "Gish". In the main menu I see "Version 1.4". Do I have version 1.4 or 1.43 or 1.42 etc.? I ask because when I installed the 1.43-update the game didn't work anymore (I saw only a few white blocks on black background).

I tried trainers for 1.42 and for 1.43 (ought to give invincibility etc.) but neither worked. That's also why I asked myself which version I actually have. I couldn't find a trainer particular for version 1.4. By the way, I also like to play without trainers but for testing purposes / playing around a trainer wouldn't be bad. The trainer by Kampfschaf works (and is good) but it doesn't allow invincibilty.

General Discussion / Controller mapping?
November 03, 2005, 10:20:09 PM
I use a game pad which has 4 buttons at the right side. At the moment I use the following mapping:

        JUMP
          |
STICK ---- HEAVY
          |
        SLIDE

Furthermore another button on the gamepad is for START.

At first I had the same configuration except that I swapped JUMP and SLIDE. Until now I can't really say which configuration is better.

PS: I use a Saitek 1500 with 10 buttons.
