Indeed http://www.pontifex2.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'> After the post I saw the other thread.

But as I always say: better one thread to much then no threads at all. :-p

Problems / No Menu after starting Pontifex
October 30, 2001, 08:05:27 AM
The DirectX is version 8.0a (reinstalled it to be sure) and OpenGL is the standard version of Windows 2000.

I have read more video problems on the forum related with ATI video chip sets. Perhaps something is wrong with the ATI drivers. Other DirectX games work fine on the VIAO.

I hope Chronic Logic will solve this ATI problem as soon as possible because a lot of notebooks use ATI chip sets.

Problems / No Menu after starting Pontifex
October 29, 2001, 10:07:45 AM
I started Pontifex 10.19 on my notebook but the menu is not displayed. The game starts after pressing S but  the next screen is blank. Used several video settings with the Pontifex Hardware Configuration but nothing helped. http://www.pontifex2.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':('>

The notebook is a Sony VAIO PCG-F807K with Windows 2000 Professional SP2 and DirectX 8.0a. The video card is an ATI Rage Mobility M1 (latest driver).

Any advise to solve this is welcome,
thanks
Eric

Problems / Open GL requirements
November 08, 2001, 03:20:35 PM
I have run GLInfo on my VIAO and got exact the same results as above.

The VIAO has an ATI Rage Mobility M1 chip set.
Currently using driver build M6.11.74-T04, version 5.00.2195.4037 - The default drivers from Microsoft.

I have tried all drivers and tools mentioned by Baggio but alas nothing helped.

Why use OpenGL and not DirectX?

Problems / Not working on ATI Rage Mobility?
October 31, 2001, 04:03:58 PM
Strange that OpenGL is not supported by the Windows 2000 drivers because OpenGL is since NT 4.0 a standard feature.

GLSetup only supports OpenGL for Win95/98 and not Windows 2000 (because it is standard). I know that GLSetup (now sponsored by ATI) will work on a GLSetup version for Windows 2000/XP to enhance the standard version.

Thanks for the tip about Rage Underground, I will try to find something there that let me play Pontifex.

Problems / Not working on ATI Rage Mobility?

First want to thank Baggio for his advice about the ATI and OpenGL problems.  http://www.pontifex2.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>

I tried all the tips he gave but none of them worked. The SciTech GLDirect is till so far the best because I have seen the mouse cursor but still the menu is not visible.

I think that Chronic Logic has to fix this problem, other OpenGL demos work fine on my VIAO.
