BCS General / i love building drawbridges
October 27, 2002, 10:15:24 AM
Strange, they don't work perfectly on mine.  On vertical for instance, the bridge breaks at the joints.  Either in the vertical support there, or some other span.  Instead of using the vertical supports on either side, of the lifting section, I added two more drawbridge sections that pull away from the middle and now it works.  It looks even better in my opinion because it adds a little more complexity to it.

BCS General / Re-use Pontifex 1 levels?
October 27, 2002, 10:36:58 AM
Any development on this front?  I made some interesting towers in P* that I'd like to try with P*2.  I think wind might be interesting to toy with.  I'd rather not spend several hours recreating those levels though.

BCS General / Back again.

I've been FAR too busy to do any serious Pontificating... but I'll try to stop in on a more regular basis.  It's been a long time for me too.  Hmmm... I'll be done with my senior design project in December, and then graduating, so maybe I'll be able to spend more time then.  :/

BCS General / Help needed: getright and pfx2
October 27, 2002, 09:41:24 AM
An Alt-Click or a Ctrl-Click usually will bypass most download managers.  I had the same problem with Gozilla!.  It sould be in the help for that program.  I think this is something that should be addressed though.  Especially for a 22MB file... you do have to register after you download the program, so even if it was more publically accessable that would help.

Did you guys try them with the textures or w/o? Should I continue using them, or just go back to the standard?
I used the textures... looks great.  I skipped ahead and just finished level 16.  I liked making a really long bridge.  Even if it took more than a few minutes to pass the level.

New Levels / Newbie Question.....

Sounds like you are getting bridges for the old *llegal program *ridge *uilder.

New Pontifex bridges are .pxb extentions.

You can get the older program to play with by going to http://www.bridgebuilder-game.com" target='_blank'>http://www.bridgebuilder-game.com. The Pontifex community is still small, but growing. Darkwolf9 has a bridge pack out, and hopefully there will be more to follow his lead.

Miscellaneous / Carmageddon 2
October 30, 2001, 08:02:09 AM
I just found Carmageddon 2 at a local Babbages. For less than Ů, I though it was a steal. Too bad for me it doesn't run on Windows NT/XP. I can't figure out how to trick it.

Miscellaneous / Carmageddon 2

I was a huge fan of Carmageddon 1. My computer couldn't really handle 2. Played the demo for awhile and I have to agree with street, that game had some of the neatest physics. The Electoro-Bastard Ray was a lot of fun too! But I degress.

One of the neatest features and innovations at the time was breakaway parts, and dynamically damaged vehicals. You could damage your bumper, make a really tight turn that broke off the bumper, and use it as a weapon to kill more peds.

It was tremendously fun to get up onto the tops of some of the buildings, and then jump off to see what kind of damage you could cause. Carmagedon 2 was really advanced, and I've seen few other games approach the realisim of that physics engine. One of the best racing games ever for that reason. Even if there wasn't a lot a "racing" that was done.

Goodnight!!!! that's horrible. Make it go away. Quick, how do I empty my browser cache? I don't want it to infect the rest of my computer. http://www.pontifex2.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

That sorta reminds me of www.goatass.com.

Miscellaneous / Old-fashioned hardware

I think you are correct mendel. Although it has been a long time since I used an SB16, I seem to remember that the DMA channels were set to 1 an 5 by default. It was however possible to set the high DMA to the same channel as the low DMA, in this case 1 if your computer wouldn't support the SB16 on 5.

It might just be a problem with what you are loading. I seem to remember that you could only use the DMA channels if EMM386 or some other memory manager was running.

Miscellaneous / ICQ

If you've already registered, and you are just trying to figure out what it is so that you can place it on the board, it is listed at the top of the ICQ client.  I'm not really sure what your asking.  If you don't have one already, then do as Gray has said.

Yes, the names are case-sensitive.  Biomix, I've renamed your file so that you should be able to use it now.
That must be why mine isn't showing up... I might want to redo it though... the one I posted I was more or less temporary.
