Gish Editor / Making turnstiles
April 30, 2005, 03:30:08 PM
This may have been done before but if you make 2 platforms with a hinge on top of each other, and make one horizontal and one vertical, and then join the corners up with invisible bars, you make a 'turnstile' object which is quite fun to play on.

I tried to adapt it to make some primitive gears but haven't perfected that yet http://www.pontifex2.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='???'>

Gish Editor / Tilesets
April 15, 2005, 06:12:45 PM
Forgive my noobishness - I have tackled all the regular aspects of level making very nicely and will post at least 2 very involved and detailed custom levels soon, but I'd like to know how to add my own tiles. From what one of you said a while ago, it seems the tileset you make in the tileset editor is saved with the level, including images, so how would I go about importing my own graphics in here?

I'd like to modify some existing tiles (to make different gradients), and also make (or aquire/rip/download) some new level themes.

Particularly I want an Icy tileset, Imagine the fun you could have with that, setting the friction on all the icy blocks to really low  http://www.pontifex2.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'> . Also I'd like a Futuristic looking tileset like Scrap Brain Zone from Sonic. I mean, considering all the devices you can build with pistons and objects etc, I think that theme would work well. Either that or something mechanical and clockwork-looking, maybe with animated gearwheels for the background.

Gish Editor / Tile properties
April 15, 2005, 06:23:14 PM
When you edit a tile, you can enter things like the breakpoint, damage factor, friction etc... Well I was thinking, how about having a value for movement in here to, for example so you could make tiles which act as conveyors. The animation feature is also perfect for making conveyors. You could use them to move Gish or heavy objects. I don't know if the programmers are interested in new ideas but I thought I'd mention this as it seems vaguely simple.

Gish Editor / Sequencing Levels
April 15, 2005, 06:18:46 PM
As I may have said, I'm redesigning all the gish levels to be longer and a bit hard and more involved than the default levels. I thought I saw something mentioned about CL making an app to sequence your own levels into a 'levelpack'. That would rock so hard. If they are going to go down this route I'd like to suggest some features:

(1) The ability to LOCK the levels with a password, so you can never load them into the editor without it.
(2) The original game levels should also be locked. Otherwise any secrets and other facts about the level are easily seen.
(3) Some kind of thingy which counts how many coins you've collected, so if you have a certain amount you can play a bonus level or some kind of extra level with nice things on it. This is basically to encourage the players to find your secrets.

That's it. What do you guys think?  http://www.pontifex2.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

Gish Editor / Upside down spikes
February 11, 2005, 07:22:27 AM
This is freaky, the upside down spikes and wall spikes are only used on a few levels but I can't see them in any of the tilesets of the 7 you get to choose from.

Gish Editor / Can't get pistons to work
February 07, 2005, 07:04:13 PM
I'm looking to make things like moving platforms and crushers; first I create a block object (2) and an anchor point (8), then I connect pistons from the anchor to the object corners facing the anchor. I've checked the readme and done it a dozen times and it doesn't work http://www.pontifex2.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':('>. I've even looked at how it's set up in the default levels and can't see any difference.

Can someone tell me step-by-step how to do it? I can make normal ropes etc fine.
