General Discussion / Who has beat Gish?
May 25, 2004, 04:12:07 PM
I have not beaten it yet (i've only played the demo), but I wanted to make this post anyway

I first started playing Bridge builder a while ago, and then Pontifex came out and ate my time. I never bought Tryptech (or whatever) because, although the demo was fun, I didn't enjoy it as much as the bridge building games.

I got the feeling that the community was dying out and I stopped visiting these boards and the CL website, so I missed the launch of Pontifex II (which I will buy soon), until Penny-Arcade mentioned you guys.  Gish looks like an awesome game.  Amazing fun.  I will have to buy it soon.  And I come to these boards and see the developers joking around with the players . .  Its great.  Chronic Logic, you guys rock.  Best of luck.

you guys MUST check this game out.

i got onilne finally, and the MP setup is beyond great.  it runs smooth, is easy to use, and it has not crashed for me in the 16 hours i logged in the past two days.

you really must get the demo, cause then you will buy it.  its almost as addictive as pontifex.

its so f**king addictive half the players can't even sleep at night cause they busy thinking bout what they gonna do to make an awesome kill all bot.

must try this

[drug pusher]you want to try some roboforge, man, only 20 dolla[/drug pusher]

you gotta try this.

i went on the magic, um, site that reviewed Pontifex (i beleive it started with an "F" . . its somewhere, i thing in the GD forum) and hey had this up ther.

anywho . . you build a robot from a chassi and then probably several hundred other components . .

then you give it moves . . by moving the joints and tellng it when to do that during themove

and then you give it AI to tell it which way to go and when, and when to do the moves.

then you test battle it .  against any bot on your comp.

it runs on a B&W grid REAL REAL slow . . about 20 secs for one game sec, because it is calculateing everything, and

Then it switches to high qualit mode, and it runs smooth because the battle has already been recorded.

i have seen some specacular battls, and even better bots of min . .  some of which worked in the way i wanted to.

its fun stuff, go to www.roboforge.com and gab the demo.

its 30 megs, but if you wanna buy it all you have to do is pay em 20 dolla and it loses its softwrap thingy.

the idea is onlin ness.

its based on touraments, some of which have cash prizes.

the train is saved in the MODEL folder as a .mdl . . quake uses it the .mdl, but i think that it is a different format . . 3Dexploration doesn't recognize it . . . . .

worth a shot, anyway.

mods would be nice, but i meant:

mods - - modifications OR mooderator

i think it would be fun to be a mod if there is ever need of one her . . chroniclogic can't get them all . .

:P

i wonder what they would think if i tried to mod the train?

methinks us first peeps should get mod jobs when the boards become popular . . . . . .

hmmm, some serious engine tweaking would be nescecarry, probably a whole new one . . . the track couldn't be composed of segments . . it would have to be a curvey wavey type deal . . . . . good idea tho . .

stick to cool puzzle/thinking games like this to keep your fans . . . not enough good games like that out anymore . .

those gray joints are cable joints . . . . you can't set the color in the menu, but it would be easy to implement, or easy to hack change it .
