General Discussion / Contest Bridge?
October 23, 2001, 09:02:47 AM
I sent my beginner bridge in. http://www.pontifex2.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>  It took quite a while to figure out a combination that made for 0 broken links, but it is possible.

I can't wait to see what the winning design is!

General Discussion / FiringSquad review Pontifex
October 21, 2001, 03:13:01 AM
I'm here because of the Firing Squad review.  At first I thought, "A bridge building sim?  <yawn>  That will be as much fun as "Painting Fences in 3D!" http://www.pontifex2.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>  But then I tried the demo.  Played that for about an hour... had to run out and do some errands, then came home and bought the game.  It's hard to describe to some who haven't tried it just how much fun it is.  http://www.pontifex2.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

General Discussion / Stress at anchor points?
October 23, 2001, 09:08:13 AM
I'm working on level 11 for the normal bridge set.  I built up a tower of sorts in the center of the river (two anchor points there) and then suspended cables to hold up either side of the bridge.  What I found is that the whole bridge looks good... except for the deck sections on each end (one each) that go from the train tracks to the next bridge section.  Right off the bat they're showing bad tension.  I've tried putting towers at those ends, but even if I run cables down from that point the stress (and eventual train collapse) still happen.

I love the game though.  Really makes you think. http://www.pontifex2.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>  Well,as best you can with a few glasses of scotch in 'ya.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
