Gish Editor / My ideal view of Gish+editor

What you can do is make an enemy the 'first' object by selecting it and pressing the home key... this way the camera follows the enemy. I think you can also see its health this way... not sure though.
Yeah, good advice. I meant something more along the lines of controlling Hera, Honeybucket, or the Clot Gobbler in single player. On a related note, enemies will only attack a tar character if it is the HOME character (that is to say that you are controlling it). If you just place an idle tar charater in a level, the enemies will just leave it alone.

Most of those things exist.
Rubber bands are rope type 0, unfortunately they have to be invisible.
Conveyor belts are essentially many wheels rotating in a row.
I think there is a way to make pulleys (there is one in a level called octo-logic)
As for hollow wheels what uses could they have besides as a vehicle?
I think they should have; a way to make blocks and not just tiles do damage, a way to link enemies to objects via ropes or pistons, and a way to play as different characters.

Oooh nice!
I have a good one.
Land Mines
1.Create a pit 2 tiles deep.
2.Close it with a tile with breakpoint 1. (for shrapnel)
3.Create an invisible block with high mass and low friction at the bottom of the pit.
4.On the tile below that create an anchor with these stats: R-1.5 (or 2 if you really want to do damage) G-0.2 and B-1. attach to block with push pistons.
6.Important- Create a 1 time area switch right above the whole contraption and link the anchor to it so when Gish walks by he is hit really hard by the block.

From what I know there were no plans to have no scripting. It's just that it was more work that simply wasn't done for that reason. Also, lately I'm not so fond of Java anymore, but it's still nice cross-platform and security-wise.

Yeah, I guess it would be cool to make it optional. I might even try it out.

Ah, but you see, these are tactics for the high scorer and speed runner, which are useful for shortcuts and combos. http://pontifex2.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>

Gish isn't forced to fullscreen.
Yes you can change it from the options menu.

Now about Java. When Edmund was making Gish one of the main points of design was to use as little scripting as possible. I know that the editor has some flaws,(I myself would like to see a dynamic water engine) but is scripting really a wise thing to ask for. I know eventually the level format will be released. But as long as people can use a simple-if unweildy-tool to create levels as good as anyone at diverge could make I'll be happy.

Here are some secret kill tactics:

Gimper scamps: If they are in a row get Gish between them and the wall and go heavy. It should kill all of them.

Sisters: You can actually push the sisters into the lava by yourself(tip: get a running start).

Honey Bucket: If you keep your balance you can stand on top of them wihout taking damage.

If you have more, post them.

This is part cast guide and part fan fiction. I hope you like it.
CHARACTERS
Gish A mucilag of few words, Gish is the hero of our story. He is also a 12 pound ball of tar. He journeys into the sewers to find his kidnapped girlfriend Brea. He must travel through twisting dungeons and face feindish foes in order to save Brea.
Brea Gish's girlfriend, she gets kidnapped by a shadowy figure during a walk in the park and Gish must save her.
Honey Bucket A mucilag (or muke) made of whatsit that inhabits the sewers of Dross. There are actually three of them, and they have the abilility to spawn poo grips.
Paunchy Chops A ghost that rules the forlorn hollow. His ethereal form is disintegrated by sunlight.
Visceran Sisters The largest and cruelest of the zipperhead clan. These bloated sisters rule over the 9 planes of Gehenna and have the ability to spawn abyssal grips. They later return to the rapture dressed an nuns.

Hera A muke, and Brea's captor. She is also Gish's ex-girlfriend. She is jealous of Brea and wants Gish to marry her. She has Brea suspended over a lava pit, and Gish has to hurry if he wants to save her.
Clot Gobbler A blood pudding mucilag. He starts out tan, and then drinks blood all day until he turns a very dark purple color.

Marrow grips These are essentially mummified nibble grips turned undead.
Mummy scamps The ancient boonies native to Duat preserved themselves as mummies before some great cataclysm.
Angel grips Winged nibble grips that inhabit the vast citadel of the rapture.
Alterboys Gimper scamps that dwell within the rapture. they wear habots and crucifixes.
LOCATIONS
Sewers of Dross An ancient city beneath the Golgotha desert.
Forlorn hollow The eerie caves that lie beneath Dross are home to some truly monstrous creatures.
9 planes of Gehenna These hellish caves are home to the Zipperheads and are pockmarked by lava pits.
Lost tombs of Duat An ancient city ruled by boonies once stood here. Now only ruins remain.
The Rapture This vast subterranean cathedral marks the end of Gish's journey.
OTHER
Warp zones These are hidden rifts in space that lead to paralell dimensions.
Isle of death This secet isle is surrounded by a sea of nothingness, living there is easy. Getting there is another matter...
Skeletons Boonies that go to the isle of death slowly rot away until they are nothing more than walking bones.

Gish Editor / Little Questions

Connect a 5 piston from the anchor to the closest point on the wheel (very important not to do it the other way around; the "from" object's color will be used for attributes).
Thank you!!! You have solved all of my problems! Thanks also for the rest of the info.

Gish Editor / Little Questions
August 29, 2006, 03:51:37 PM
Hey I'm just getting started with the level editor and I need help with pistons, so here are my questions:
1. What do the different types of pistons do?
2. How do I make a switch activated door?
3. How do I make a rotating wheel?
4. How do I make a repeating piston?  http://pontifex2.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

What I would like to see is a dynamic water engine so that water would flow over surfaces and splash realistically.

I guess so, but lan would be cool, seeing as how one computer play is rather unwieldy.

Okay, let me know if there's a flaw in my plans.
Bomber
knowledge: object editor, rope editor
purpose: droppin heavy stuff on Gish
Make a large, hollow box with a bottom attatched with heavy(4) chains in the center of a room, put 2 anchors on the walls of the room on either side of the box, put one brick a few spaces left of the bottom part, attach to bottom with pull pistons(7) and to everything else with bars(9) put several objects or enemies (this device doubles as a dropship) inside the box, attatch box to anchors with pistons and set them to extend and contract as far and as fast as you want, then put an area switch anywhere you want in the room and link it to the box left of the bottom piece which should have these stats: R-width of chassis, G-any, B-0.5.

Or...a Gish MMO! I wonder how that would work!
