Don't care the formula, but I loathe decaying ratings, especially with a low player base. More importantly, Zatikon has proven to be a game where despite the competitive types are here, 3 fold is the new of cooperative players. Any efforts should be focused on them vs us few junkies :D

Thanks for the updates. Try to make a few of the new relics open to non paying members please. Currently, way too many only paying units.

Zatikon Discussion / Zatikon too complex
August 25, 2011, 07:54:37 PM
I want to thank the devs for pushing out new stuff. Always appreciated to see a good hard work. Some of the pieces are really awesome, however, as a whole I have a really bad review from this next expansion:

This will be the last I will be playing Zatikon as it has reached the boiling point for being too confusing for me (and for new players will be too incredible).  I  I really appreciated the simplicity and the ability to calculate all the pieces based on 1-2 unit abilities.  Adding more and more units which I can't decipher how they work at first go is really bad news. The game needed more simplicity overall, not complexity.  To confuse it more, all the new relic's made the game far more unpredictable how to plan out a game, made it more unbalanced towards super pieces and overall complicates the game.  This may be appreciated by other die hard veterans here, but it is going to make it much harder to attain newer players.  Best of luck on the game.

1 changeling, grab the abjurer, and start unsummoning. Wash, rinse, repeat for a few turns.

Alchemist helps too, but you need a big aresonal of action creators and stalling units like yes, changeling.

Diplomat is currently one of the most dramatic units in the game. Ideally I'd like to see it receive a new ability vs have your opponent be completely helpless in 1 turn.  One of two things should happen:
(1) You can not activate the diplomat's special ability unless you have used no actions on attacking this round or
(2) Change diplomat's price tag to $250-300

I really would like to see archangel's price tag also jump +$50

Zatikon Discussion / Re: Other strategy game interests?

Sean's games are great, I remember beating every one of the Slay games. Brilliant. I did some digging and found a Slay clone too (characters are mushrooms), but forgot it's name.

It's sad there are soo soo few good games out there.

Against 5 abjurer + 5 FS,

1 artificer+ 2 Golems/wyvern will win it for ya. There are a few other ways too, but involves cooperative mode.

I guess it kind of feels like you already have implemented a sliding scale rating system to some extent. I must say I'm not a fan of not knowing the hidden rating system. For the small few of us who play ranked, it means we have no clue how far-behind we are from the next person.

Additionally, it would also have the top 50-100 saved somewhere and have the ratings reset once again. It's nice and exciting playing for rating when player's have a chance to strive to be top player. I'm sure the current system makes getting to #10 almost impossible with the current player pool, let alone #1.

In the advent it's too much effort to implement an advanced rating system, how about something as similar to this sliding scale SIMPLE way:

According to both player's difference in ratings:

0                 = +/- 15
+1 - 99        = +13/-17
+100 - 249  = +10/-20
+250 - 499  = +6/-24
+500           = +3/-29

EX: If your opponent's rating is 200 and yours is 400.  You will risk gaining 10 points if you win or lose 20 points.

Units / Re: Channeler

Channeller. One simple tweak, second ability should become:
- Sacrifice all energy, each 3 energy deals 1 damage.

The first power, is very reasonable because it involves 1 action per turn. Tweaking the 2nd ability will make it balanced.

Finally got $200K. Soon I will be able to buy a house with my Zatikon money.

The biggest frustration with constructed is playing and most games you have absolutely no way to win once the game begins. The main problem stems from constructed being too fast paced. Perhaps if the game was limited down to start with 4 actions. Or, round 1 had 3 actions, round 2, 4 then all other rounds the normal 5. The only other viable option is to put specific units off-limits to adding to armies, but that offers a lot of problems.

Zatikon Discussion / NEW GAME MODES!
November 19, 2010, 01:32:25 AM
The new modes presented below should help revitalize the community especially with a low population. With a low population, it's hard to get games going. I've seen the desire to play lots of 2v2 games but the fact is logging in, we need more things for players to do when people are in other games or no one is there:

(1) BOSS MODE: Unfortunately, this would take a lot of effort, but this mode would be another single player mode, where each level's goal is just to kill the boss unit.

(2) 2v2* (Upgraded!): Player's will now have the choice to add up to as many AI's as they want. So, technically you could start your own game and play against 1 ally AI and 2 enemy AI. Also, means lots of combination like 2 humans vs 1 human& 1 IA, or still 2 human vs human. etc. All enemy AI, start with double (2000pts) worth of random army, just like it operates as single player to an extent. The big revision in 2v2 needs to be players must choose the seat (team) they will play on. This will help them easily add the AI to the correct team and position.

(3) 2v2 RANDOM Everything is the same as step 2, but all player's armies are random selections.

(4) MIRROR ARMIES 1v1: Random armies, but mirrored. All selections will include 1 archer and 1 horseman type minimum.
