Cool links, just thought I'd add that I have another small collection at my site (see below).

A mac version is mentioned on the http://www.chroniclogic.com/pontifex2.html" target="_blank">pfx2 info page (and in Josiah's post above), so I guess it's in the works.

LOD (level of detail) landscape could mean that the surface is detailed in the foreground and the parts near the horizon get simplified more and more to improve speed.

P.S. everyone's 'join dates' on this forum seem to be suddenly N/A... must be another problem caused by the recent forum breakdown... wait... CL's own join date is there! weird...

For high end pc's it would be fun to create a high poly set of vehiclesI'm all for that - make it so high a poly count one can actually look inside the train cars and see the terrified look on the passengers' faces http://www.pontifex2.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

Wow, so much new stuff... wind and water effects... looking forward to it!

About modding, doesn't the original Pontifex have the train model stored in a .mdl file? Maybe you could use your own models in Pfx1 already?

BTW, a pity the old topic is gone... R.I.P.
Another hack attempt?

That would rock! And the puffs of steam!

Edit: And how about some more screenshots? Of the editor, maybe? ;)

I dunno, for me, in PFX1, it's always the came color, no matter how high you drag it above the camera...
This screenshot looks like different depths look different in Pfx2, that's why I was so excited http://www.pontifex2.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

Nice screenshot!
Is that water really what it looks like, i.e. the more water is between you and the bottom the darker / less transparent it gets? Is 'volumetric' the right word for that? ;)

BCS General / Mirc Channel
September 08, 2002, 09:59:42 AM
Good idea, an IRC channel can be useful in many ways. During the beta test stage, we could even chat with the developers directly (!)...
I think I'll be joining it next week (when I have more time).

BCS General / Cost vs. Number of links
September 03, 2002, 09:57:38 PM
This would lead to two sets of clean records, two clean categories for future contests, and two very different approaches to building bridges! Almost two new games in one!Interesting idea, but somehow all this 'double stuff' doesn't really appeal to me (sorry). I think it would/could potentially mess up a lot of things... Double contests? Oh my!
Besides, I think that the cost (sum of link lengths) is clearly the best way to compare bridges. And IMO we need a single, certain way of determining which bridge is the best one for a given level...
Well, maybe the link count feature should be included, but only as some 'extra option for enthusiasts' http://www.pontifex2.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>
