Gish Editor / help me!
January 07, 2008, 02:44:18 AM
Maybe it helps if you don't build towards a goal at first, but just play around with simple mechanisms. Once you have a better grasp you might find that you can build things that work as intended.

Gish Editor / level subbmit????

Upload it somewhere on the web. If you already have web hosting, great. Otherwise you have to find some. You could look at Google Pages or similar free hosting services. There are also 'file farms' out there like Rapidshare, Megaupload, Yousendit, and a few hundred others. Those often bomb you with ads. If you go that route, I'd choose one that doesn't require the downloader to register. I don't know too many of these services but this should get you started.

It might also be possible to get an email address from CL and send the level as an attachment, but that's their decision.

Gish Editor / Tutorials are nice

Way background is the layer behind all tiles, the background image. Obviously there are no tiles to edit there, but you can change the color.

At least that's how I remember it...

Those are fun. I feel more compelled now to get BCS running again.

Gish Editor / Robots!

Only tiles are breakable, and tiles don't make for a good boss. At most you can try a somewhat collapsible structure and declare the boss defeated once it has collapsed (even if nothing really happens).

I'm not sure how you would lure an unintelligent creature anywhere. I think pushing/pulling it is unreasonable.

One more point: does it die? I'm afraid that'll prevent most custom bosses from being playable. http://pontifex2.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':('>

I don't have it anymore because the disk it was on broke a long time ago.

Gish Editor / Robots!

I wouldn't call them robots; robots need some sort of intelligence. And that's exactly where it becomes less interesting for me. It may be possible to build some sort of computer, but I don't think it will be much more practical than one built from dominoes.

General Discussion / Things you'd like to se
March 19, 2007, 04:29:41 PM
I'm wondering why he started Cryptic Sea and what it means for Chronic Logic. I have the feeling Alex enjoys being the lone little programmer like in the Bridge Builder times. CL seems to become more and more of a publisher.

Keep in mind that these are mostly ungrounded suspicions.

General Discussion / Mazes in Gish!

I generated a few mazes: http://home.filternet.nl/~eo000199/jonathan/gish/gishmaze.tbz2" target="_blank">gishmaze.tbz2 http://pontifex2.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

Solutions / I need some help.
January 18, 2007, 07:42:24 PM
I just made an inverted arch of cable, with some beams of compression-resistant material to support the deck. Cheap (at least compared to the budget) and easy.

Edit: I recommend the forum of http://www.bridgebuilder-game.com/" target='_blank'>http://www.bridgebuilder-game.com/. The active bridge builders are there.

General Discussion / Collection level 20 again
January 18, 2007, 07:17:51 PM
The http://pontifex2.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=31;t=731" target="_blank">level format is pretty simple, but raster data is encrypted. I snatched encryption/decryption code from a now-gone http://pontifex2.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=27;t=557" target="_blank">basic level editor by Chicken1. I still obviously know how the encryption/decryption works, but I don't know if CL wants me to publish it. If any of them reads this, can we get an answer?

Don't hold your breath. It's likely that he meant potential next patch.

Yeah, a 38.4 s replay of Row Sawyers (not me) is distributed with the game. He seems to have some sort of relation with CL: his name always appears in the credits.

Did you like the overview image?

Gish Support / Gish keycode lost
December 30, 2006, 06:22:40 PM
There is an easy way to get http://www.chroniclogic.com/gish/gishlookup.htm" target="_blank">all registration info and http://www.chroniclogic.com/gish/gish_download.php" target="_blank">another download if you have access to e-mail received at the address at which Gish was registered. Otherwise you can try http://www.chroniclogic.com/contact_form.php?section=support" target="_blank">support. Someone from CL does check this forum once in a while, but I suppose conversations about keycodes are going to be private anyway.
