BCS Support / Beginner  seeks  help

1. Why is it that sometimes I work with a bridge and I do not have the opportunity to do earthquake tests?

Only if you don't use "Start Game" (and I guess Tutorial) you can do custom earthquake tests.

2. What is the purpose of phases?

Mainly for drawbridges and, well, multiple vehicle phases. A train bridge might have:
- Train comes from left to right.
- Train comes from right to left.
A drawbridge might have:
- Cars driving over bridge.
- Drawbridge up.
- Ship going under bridge.
- Drawbridge down.
- Cars driving over bridge.

3. I do not see what the "Manual" or "User Control" functions do. What are they for? Seems to me "manual" should be the same as "user control."

Manual phase gives you control over phases and hydraulics. User control lets you control the vehicles (select one and drive using WASD, IIRC). If you use user control you'll probably also want manual phase, because it doesn't register that you have driven to the end point and thus leaves you in the first phase.

Installing at another location and copying it back may help. It's easy to re-download: http://www.chroniclogic.com/gish/gishdownload.htm" target='_blank'>http://www.chroniclogic.com/gish/gishdownload.htm. If you got the game from GarageGames you'll probably have to sort it out with them.

This has nothing to do with the exporter but how do I make multiple textures (Like a tree. The trunk is brown and the levees are green?)

Make one texture containing both the trunk and the leaves.

That was me. But I just stopped working on it. Maybe I'll start working on another converter; now that I have more programming experience it seems pretty easy. But the lightwave exporter might still be more useful for you, of course.

Hah, finally got that god mode (took me dozens of tries to get there because of the stupid swinging platform... good thing I cheated by having an unlimited amount of lives).

Playing on easy or medium and committing suicide if you screw up works too.

It seems to work until you exit Gish. The transparent effect can get confused in scaled versus though.

Windows XP? I have a Mac here. http://67.15.141.32/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'> Anyway, http://www.videolan.org/vlc/" target="_blank">VLC should work on Windows ME, and its H.264 support is good enough to see what's going on.

Technical files? Do you know of a file format that isn't technical? Just let a player (such as Quicktime 7 if you're using Mac OS X or Windows) take care of it.

It's 2.8 seconds with even less effectively used audio, so that part sounds about right.

Oh, you meant the http://home.filternet.nl/~eo000199/jonathan/gish_womd.mp4" target="_blank">Weapon of Mass Destruction!

Note: the server sends it out as text/plain, so it's best to tell your browser to save to disk manually. Also, you need a player that knows H.264.

I, too, may have missed something. But at least this was fairly new.

There are enough hints in this thread, or enough to get you close if you didn't know all of 5-1 before the update. You can use the level editor to try to find it, that's not more cheating than someone telling you where it is.

Nice one! I was aware of how you can manipulate them, but never exploited this. However, for me it's easy to send them down by hitting them with blocks, and I have figured out how to use the physics to DRAG them in! Or just push them through the floor. Who needs big heavy blocks? http://67.15.141.32/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>
