I think:

Aw, damn you know what I think.

I love the new health bars flashing, they need a sound to accompany!

Digging the new models!

Digging the bloody textures!

Love the new spell casting out of range feature, it as close as I think we should get to queuing up moves!

Skirmish mode...

should maybe include a full sandbox mode where like nefarious suggested you have a campaign editor. Being able to pick out any amount of heroes, any baddie or boss (that you've unlocked) to practice against.

How about a Boss/Gauntlet scenario, where you come up against boss after boss after boss with a preset of money/resources.

I'll come up with more

Kingdom Elemental Support / Bug?

I've gotten a few requests about having an invert x axis on the camera function so hopefully that will go on the wish list Josiah?

On easy I was able to use enough archers to get him down. But on Normal and Hard I couldn't find any other way that to use the Druid's Thorn Shield on a Swordsman and keep healing him with Cleric. Spend the rest on Archers If anyone has any different configurations let me know!

Beta Testing / Make grammars fix here!
December 03, 2006, 08:26:28 AM
Found some more, if'n it ain't too late

In the Monks description, "who're" should probably be broken apart to "who are". Also the word "to" is capitalized twice in the description as "To" for no apparent reason.

Swordsman's description reads he is from the "north". Should that be capitalized, "North"?

The description of the druid's Thorn Shield spell has the word "delt" which should be spelled "dealt".

Sorry if they're too late!

Beta Testing / Make grammars fix here!

Ok, I'm trying to go through the tutorial, but I don't have the finalized scripts with the latter additions. So I'm trying to just go with does the words being said match with what's on the screen.

so:

TUT_03: "If you do not have a scroll wheel, you can use the Z and X keys." Text reads "...you can use the Z and X keys TO ZOOM", so cut off "TO ZOOM"

TUT_10: "You can select multiple units by clicking and dragging a box around them". Text reads "...by clicking a dragging a box around them." Switch first "a" to "and".

TUT_11: Mispelled "couldn't" as "coulden't", which makes me giggle.

TUT_14: "...I tend to lean a little bit more towards hackin..." Text reads "I tend to lean a little bit hackin..." add a "more towards" in there!

TUT_20 add a "s" so it reads: "The swordsman can soak up hit"s" much more efficiently than the archer can"

TUT_23 add a second "h" to huh. currently it's "hu", which also makes me giggle.

TUT_34 "While the battle is paused, you can issue orders..." Text reads, "While the game is paused..." Switch out "game" for "battle"

I think there are a few more. but it's hard to keep track. It might help if you post the EXACT script that's in the build directly from your code if you have to so I can just match them up this way. Currently I have to just play through and make frantic scribbly notes.

Beta Testing / Other Feedback:
November 20, 2006, 06:11:52 PM
Wow, thanks for all the feedback! I'm sure we'll all take it to heart as we push and push to get this thing done!

I didn't write the tutorial, but I did voice it. I don't feel like it's mocking the fantasy genre so much as satirizing it. Not laughing at but with, hopefully. I can't imagine anyone feeling truly offended by anything said or done in this game.

And we feel really silly saying over and over into a microphone "For the good of the whole!" "For the good of the whole" "For the good of my hole!", the alternative is a bunch of generic "yes?" "Mm-hm?"'s and from ten different heros? Trying to inject as much character as possible into little sporadic phrases is difficult, but I think we got it. I feel certain characters have..well characters. And attitude! The druid is noble, the swordsman is heroic, the elemental wizard is infinitely wise, the paladin is both righteous and strong, the bard is a little ditzy (who goes into battle with a guitar anyways?), the necromancer clearly doesn't like anyone or anything alive... The archer I believe could have used more of a 'combat-veteran' emphasis even without simulating a race who's lifespan is thousands of years, and we've tossed out new ideas for her but nothing really stuck. So I agree that she could be improved, but I don't think she's a misfit by any means.

Again, thanks so much for forming such a valid opinion of the game. You clearly played through and formulated some great points for us to ponder!

Ok, when you have no unlock points you can't unlock the heroes that don't require unlock points like the bard and the cleric. Even though you're not using them, if you have zero it won't let you unlock them!

Beta Testing / Additional heroes:
November 16, 2006, 03:54:17 AM
In favor of more female presence here, I vote for angels or fairies...sorry fAEries. Yeah, flying heros. Maybe the can only be attacked by projectile attacks or other flying creatures a la Magic:TG.

Shapeshifter! Can be any kind of unit at any time for a certain duration. Hella strategy infused with that one and certainly an easy unit to develop!

Steam powered "Robot" or mechanical man. Will kick ass for short bits at a time and then runs out of power unless a hero is available to turn the large key on his back. I was going to say, wind his crank...but that would be wrong.

Beta Testing / Overall impressions of Kingdom Elemental
November 12, 2006, 11:35:07 PM
I think it's a fantastic blending of RTS and Turn Based Strategy games. No longer are you hampered by how fast you can click on the little unit to get him to attack the right thing. The faster the player learns the shortcuts doesn't mean they will be abandoning real time pause anytime soon. It's a fantastic element which balances the playing field with those who are quick to think, and those who take time with their moves.

Yeah, the archers are molasses without the speed ability so you'll want to unlock that soon so they zip!

Beta Testing / Bugs

On the latest build Beta 130 there I ran into a problem with the continue campaign again. The night before I got to Level 2 Round 2 and then quit. This morning I fire up skirmish mode since it unlocked. After beating 6 rounds of that I click on Campaign, then on Continue Campaign. Loading screen, nifty new progress meter, then "Initializing" then back to menu. I click on Campaign > Continue Campaign and get the same result. So I restart KE and go straight to Campaign > Continue Campaign and again...loading screen, menu screen.

Also, when I was playing skirmish mode (all random parameters) I got to round 6 where I had tons of money but only the swordy, archer, cleric to cast. So I pull out 5 swordys, 4 archers, and I have money for a Cleric or two and it won't let me pull him out. I try to bring in another swrd or archer (since I have enough gold still) but it stops there. Is there a 9 unit total cap or something? I just reloaded and tried it again, it stops me from bringing out more than 9. Is that a hold over from the old 3 unit cap that's still in play?

Not a bug, but the Archer's Speed ability has the word "trippled" which should be "tripled".

OS: WIN XP
CPU: AMD 2700
Memory: 1G
Video card: ATI 9500
Video Memory: 512MB
Sound: Onboard

When you turn off music in the menu and then start a game you get this loud static noise at the very beginning. It's very short, but we've tried it on another machine here as well. with similar specs. AMD machine but like a 2200. It sounds like the music tries to start but then cuts off all distorted.

Beta Testing / What heroes did you not use and why:

I like using Necros, but they are tricky to stay alive. Maybe make them harder to hit as they are really apparitions.

As for the berserker/cutthroat, if we make his spin have a larger radius and maybe last a bit longer he would be fun to send into large melees from time to time. Otherwise, I'd rather have a monk I think.
