Was that sarcasm I hear? If so, I agree. My stupid phone company won't let me get better that 32k.

Next Version Ideas / Pullies or Pivot points
October 23, 2001, 03:13:19 AM
I agree, if there was one feature lost from bb to PFX that I miss, Pivoting links would be it. They allowed for  bridges to settle with much less damage.

Next Version Ideas / Faster than a speeding bullet!

Once again I am amazed with the speed and precision with which you listen to user input, fix problems, and release a new version. Keep up the great work!

Next Version Ideas / Earthquakes
October 20, 2001, 02:31:06 AM
Interesting, but earthquakes have a nasty tendency to destroy all but the shortest bridges. I think it is a cool idea, but I wonder how often it could be effectively used. But this is just my opinion, don't let that stop you. http://www.pontifex2.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

Next Version Ideas / Batch testing

Also for giving people help with a level. I get about two requests a day for screen shots, it only takes about 30 seconds to make one and convert it to jpeg, but shorter is better. http://www.pontifex2.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

Next Version Ideas / real bridges
October 19, 2001, 04:10:11 AM
I agree, unless CL is up to the task of adding pre-tensioned cables to the game, many bridges would be out of the question to try to re-create. There are many others that would still be possible on the other hand. I think this deserves some looking into!

Next Version Ideas / How close to the limit?
October 20, 2001, 09:22:14 PM
Some sort of HUD would be very helpful in some levels, how much an individual peice cost, how close to breaking, amount stretched or compressed etc. that would be helpful when trying to determine what peice to take out.

Rewind would really come in handy on the humongous levels that end up failing right before the end of their last pass. Even a step back feature so you could go to the start of the previous pass would remove a lot of headaches

What about toothpicks? If the trends in middle school bridge building projects continue, by the year 2013......

Next Version Ideas / Flags

You know how the fireworks go off if you beat a level? What if a giant flag, user selectable, that would unfurl too! Just an idea.

Next Version Ideas / rewriting of the Mouse Control

I'm running a lowly 350 amd k6-2! when the levels get big the train just runs a little slow. I just go make myself a sandwich and come back to the lovely words of "Next Level"! http://www.pontifex2.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

Next Version Ideas / No more asymmetric anchors!
October 19, 2001, 04:04:42 AM
I like them too, the levels that bother me are the really long ones, as they take about 10 - 20 minutes to run through on my machine. Would having an option to stop rendering the bridge help with this? That way if you knew your bridge was strong enough, you could let it just concentrate on the physics calculations. Probably not an issue for most people, but on my k6-2 350, those levels can take awhile. ;)

Thats what I figured http://www.pontifex2.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':('>. Oh well, it doesn't bother me enough to taint my love for this game http://www.pontifex2.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>.

What would happen if you ran out of time? Would the bridge dissappear? This seems like a demo feature more than something people would want. Sorry! ;)

(amd 350, 128MB Ram) Riva TNT2 32mb works without any problems.
