What if the Heretic only lowered life when it dies, rather than per hit, or had a once per turn limit like many other abilities (serpent, healer, mourner).

but then all those units above will trigger damage? now there are ways to kill it without damage to self....

Heretic is perfect now!  The original post was before alot of the new units & unit changes occured.
