I've tried for hours now to get level 6 done on the first official map pack. Its so strange (two anchor points total) that I have no idea how i can do it, tried dropping a bridge into place, but they always break. Any help?

DrgnFyre

Thanks Klei for those pics (I got my own directory - woohoo! http://www.pontifex2.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

However, that bridge doesn't survive on difficult, just like Volgorilla's.. http://www.pontifex2.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':('>  Oh well, I just went ahead and set it to 'easy' for this one map.

I really hate levels like this.. At least give us realistic scenarios.. I probably could have made a bridge that would have worked if the budget wasn't so ungodly low.. argh..

Remnant

I've got the same problem. Tried cables, solid bridges, etc. Most of my attempts break under their own weight, but even my strongest still fails when the train rolls over on highest difficulty (what I play on).

Anyone with a working scheme around here?

Klei

All of my designs including this one were on Hard setting.
I think some computers move the train differently on the same level...

Gray

Sure. What I did was build a stable heavy steel structure, ignoring the anchor points. It falls into place and supports the train - 0 broken links on hard!

I'm pretty sure this is not the case. It's more probable that DrgnFyre didn't rebuild your bridge exactly 1:1 (no offense http://www.pontifex2.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'> )

I made an arch out of heavy steel of single thickness, going from each anchor point, and suspended 2 slabs of deck from it, the first one at train height (i mean the first one that the train hits), and the second one going up just one unit (on high detail). 0 broken links and fairly smooth.
I have a jpg of it, if you want me to email it, give me a shout at mailto:alcorrr@icqmail.com">alcorrr@icqmail.com

I take offense to that.. http://www.pontifex2.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

Actually, after it failed when I 're-built' it, I just took the hint and grabbed the actual bridge file he used.. I honestly can't remember if it worked at that point or not.. I had already 'cheated' to get past that level. http://www.pontifex2.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'> (couple of ways to do this, just use another map pack, or just edit the d**n bridge so it has 4 anchor points). http://www.pontifex2.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

In another thread they were talking about what constitues a clean bridge. Obviously, no broken links, preferably not getting the train wet, making the train stay on the tracks..

but the one that makes the most sense, and the reason these types of levels tick me off the most was 'a bridge design that you could go to a bridge builder with, say 'build this', and not have them laugh you out of the office'.

This map does not meet those standards. http://www.pontifex2.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

Look at this! Ugly and in real life not working but ...

Klei,
I tryed to find your bridges using the link on your post, but I was not able to find any. http://www.pontifex2.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':('>
What's wrong?

JohnK

Thanks for all the help, you guys reply quickly. I actually was able to figure it out myself. Here's a crude drawing:

There is a strange arm thing going from the base of the anchor point, and more cables from towers. Huh, that sounds confusing. Oh well! If you still are interested, you know where to reach me: mailto:johnkvinge@hotmail.com.">johnkvinge@hotmail.com.

Hehe, I had problems with this level too - i used a very strange construction. Basically it is  a frame like this:

__
\/\/

with the bottom triangles connected, and cables run from the anchor points to those triangle tips. It's a bit like a bird sitting on a wire, but it's just stable enough to hold the 3 (?) times the train passes http://www.pontifex2.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'> No heavy steel used http://www.pontifex2.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'> http://www.pontifex2.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

Anyone have a better pic or just a level file?  I tried the solutions above but the 1@#$!@$!@$@#E!@#$Q$$@#!!#$@@!#$!@##!@$!$@#@#$@#$ bridge just tears itself into pieces before i can even throw the train across..

If it's not obvious, i'm a little stressed, and annoyed that levels like this are even in the game.. this is so unrealistic of a level.
