Because it's better.  http://www.pontifex2.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

That, and Direct3D isn't portable to any other OS.  So if CL wants to make a Mac version and a Linux version, OpenGL is the (only) way to go.

OpenGL properties of a specific driver can be checked at the http://www.delphi3d.net/hardware/index.php" target="_blank">GLinfo website .

I just now had a report of an Intel 810/810E not running Bridge Builder (see http://www.forum.bridgebuilder-game.com/topic.cgi?forum=3&topic=61" target="_blank">here), and it has a severely limited OpenGL line width range (1-3 at 0.5 granularity). Could this be a problem?

Which OpenGL extensions are required to run Pontifex or Bridge Builder?

Here is the open GL report for Rage Pro Turbo driver as tested on Windows 2000. (The ALL-IN-WONDER PRO, XPERT 98, XPERT@WORK, XPERT@PLAY98, XPERT@PLAY, and XPERT XL all use the same RAGE PRO Display Drivers and software.)

Chronic Logic: anything used by Pontifex not on this list?

I have run GLInfo on my VIAO and got exact the same results as above.

The VIAO has an ATI Rage Mobility M1 chip set.
Currently using driver build M6.11.74-T04, version 5.00.2195.4037 - The default drivers from Microsoft.

I have tried all drivers and tools mentioned by Baggio but alas nothing helped.

Why use OpenGL and not DirectX?
