I don't mean to be rude, but how can you get point five eight? The game only does tenths of seconds not hundreths.
It displays .1, but internally it uses .02, which it stores in its high-score file as well.
1 . 0 4 . 6X Baby! Took only two hours this time. I don't know how to check the hiscore file so I don't know what my hundreths are, but it's probably .60. Either way, I don't know how I did that.
Replay File
Cool. I'll have to check it out.
If you send me the gish.his file (or put it on some webspace) I can verify it (am at my PowerBook now, so no Windows replays). Tell me if you also want all other times in the his file.
I'm trying to write a gish.his reader now...
I'm surprised you didn't post a better score instead. I just nailed it again: got 1:05.3. Here's the hiscore file:
gish.his
Thanks a lot by the way.
Ya, I first tried just converting to .txt... just garbage. Then I used a hex-editor. Man, I'm not much of a programmer, heh.
Your program would be mighty nifty.
Actually I just DID beat you: 1:05.76!
Your times on level 12 are:
1 1:05.32
2 1:04.42
3 1:04.38
4 1:03.48
5 1:03.02
6 1:02.90
7 1:02.64
8 1:02.42
9 1:02.40
10 1:02.24
11 1:01.72
12 1:01.66
(but where's 1:04.6x?)
The format looks really simple, but I haven't found a real structure yet. If I see a certain number of non-Empty names (I'm the only one playing it on this computer) with certain times (game-reported time == decoded gish.his time with last digit cut off, for all times for that level) I know I have the right one, but telling a computer to do that is harder than figuring out the exact format, I think...
Dang back to killing myself trying to beat another score for that level. I swear you must be using a different method. Would you mind sending me your mac replay? I could load it on my friend's mac or at school. Otherwise, I think I might just end up forfeiting because I spend hours trying to get a good time and you spent five minutes ::sadness::.
I have Gish installed on two of my comps. Some1 was using my main comp for an mmog, so I was using old comp. That's why that score wasn't on that hiscore file.
Maybe the best solution is for the next patch to just include the last digit?
How about this?
-- Times for level 12 --
1 1:04.58 Jonathan
2 1:04.30 Jonathan
3 1:03.88 Jonathan
4 1:03.72 Jonathan
5 1:03.70 Jonathan
6 1:03.58 Jonathan
7 1:03.56 Jonathan
8 1:03.56 Jonathan
9 1:02.94 Jonathan
10 1:02.94 Jonathan
11 1:02.66 Jonathan
12 1:02.50 Jonathan
13 0:00.00 Empty
14 0:00.00 Empty
15 0:00.00 Empty
16 0:00.00 Empty
So 16 times (clipped to 12, only 10 displayed) are stored for 0-31 (1-23 used) levels.
1:06.00 currently.
When you're talking about a .28 difference, I'm finding it difficult to beat that score... I think I'm just going to settle. Jon, per chance, did you watch my replay? Are you taking the same route I took?
Please forgive me if I've overlooked this, but: is there a forum/site, here or elsewhere, where people can compare times/strategies for the various collection levels (other than level 12?)
I'm pretty new to Gish and don't have too much time to play. It will be a while before I tackle level 12.
Thanks,
SL
Movies made with the Windows version don't work right with the Mac version, and vice versa, and I'm too lazy to go to the Windows PC now.
The gish.his format is (copypasted from my source):
typedef struct {
int time;
char name[32];
} his_entry;
typedef struct {
his_entry entries[16];
} his_level;
typedef struct {
int magic;
his_level levels[32];
} his;
I know... it's so simple, but at first I got a little confused about 32 levels with 16 times.
Maybe I'll try to compile it for Windows, after I cleaned up the source.
Just a little idea i had while playing Gish.
Tournament level is collection level 12.
Post a screenshot of your best score.
And photoshoppers, I'm sure any momentary joy you get out of winning will be eclipsed by the sure knowledge you have no reason to live. ;).
*edit* Seems my netspace is down atm, but my best score was 41.3. I'll a screenshot up asap. (unless someone has 25k of space they could lend me...?)
*edit again* S**t, wrong topic. Could an admin move this please? *smacks forehead* sorry about that... *^_^*
Just got 53.6
I really hope that 53.6 wasn't easy for you. My hands hurt. -.-
54.0!
Edit: New score below, image removed.
44 here (no screenie, you can trust me
)
How did you get 54, wow, your hands must have hurt.
Just got 56.6
You know, it wouldn't be so hard if you weren't so SMUG. :P
59.3!

I'm going to be frank; this was a bit of a fluke. If you can beat this, I may be stumped. <.<
Just got 1:02.26

1 : 0 4 . 3
Took like three real life hours to master this insane level...
BTW, I originally thought Jon's score was impossible, but I kept at it until I found out the trick to do it.
Check out my other replays too. My level 20 score is unbeatable in my opinion. I think I was possessed by some greater power when I did it because before I did the record I could *not* beat the level at all.
My current best time is already 1:04.58 for some 2 weeks...
