I've downloaded the Mac OS X version of the editor, and have fixed the problem with the executable file not actually being executable. I can start up the editor, but then I just get a mostly-black screen with some white and gray rectangles on it (which look almost like lines of text that have been blocked over), and a large white square for a cursor. Pressing F1 does absolutely nothing, but clicking on some of these rectangles causes things to happen -- like making the editor quit, or causing different screens full of rectangles to appear.
Anybody else seeing this?
Mac OS X 10.3.5
PowerBook G4, 1 GHz, 1 GB RAM, ~38 GB free disk space
screen resolution: 1440x900
I think you should put up a screenshot somewhere, because this is an unknown (Josiah, do you know anything?) problem.
Some screenshots of how it should look:
New level option
Loading the editor after pressing F1
Editor loaded (do you see rectangles at text boxes/labels etc?)

Okay, here's a screen shot of the problem. (First time I tried, it didn't work and I assumed the editor ate the keystroke. This time it worked fine.)
Funky editor
Looks like some dialog. Buttons in the corners, a text box with label at the top, a message explaining something and the cursor. The alpha channel seems to be ignored.
Edit: The dialog may have to do with registration?
I figured out what was wrong. I didn't put the editor in the Gish folder. Of course, these instructions *should* have been duplicated in the documentation included with the downloaded package, not just present on the forum.
Ah, so it asked for registration because it couldn't find the registration file, but couldn't display it right because it couldn't find the textures.
This is just the beta stage, so I would expect it to be a bit sloppy. And the only place where you can find the link is on the page with the instructions, so I don't care about them not being included (but a good point for the next version).
