BCS General / Problems & Questions?

Though it's kinda funny writing your own C++ extensions for mIRC  Just put them in a dll and call them from your tcl/tk code. I can even control msn/winamp etc from mIRC.

Oh, check this poll btw http://www.pontifex2.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>  :

What IRC client do you use?

2  Other Windows  9% (2447)

sigh Gray... http://www.pontifex2.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

I don't know what client you are using gray, but I think most of the people are using mIRC with or without a skin/plugin. So why should I confuse people and offer them (usually) more difficult and less supported software?

mIRC is the easiest client for win32 and most customable too. You can try BitchX or some others... but.. why? http://www.pontifex2.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'> My mIRC has a built-in game browser for Counter-strike, and more options I could ever dreamed of  (plugin for mIRC).

The client contains a list of availeble servers, you only have to select 'random quakenet server' in the list, and press the connect button.

If anyone needs more help just ask here in the topic http://www.pontifex2.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

The channel is not only for people with problems/questions though. Just a hang out for all pfx fans.

haha http://www.pontifex2.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

You have a point with the quakenet list, so you can stop searching http://www.pontifex2.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'> Though I found it more sensible to show people the most used client (for windows). And it has the quakenet servers coded into it.

But when i'm in linux I use some other irc program KvIRC i think.. Though i'm running a vmware station with winME and mIRC

Hey everyone,

As some of you know, a special IRC channel is open for the beta testers. But as the beta test comes to an end the channel will also be open for non-beta testers! I hope the people from CL will idle/be active in the channel too like Josiah is/was doing during the beta test.

Questions can be directly asked there and i bet people there will be glad to help you. But if you're lucky someone from CL will be in the channel too and answer your question. Highscores and contests can be discussed, and people who create levels can talk to eachother and send files directly. Just pay a visit and see http://www.pontifex2.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

You can find me there with the nickname: 'hw|Blue'

IRC info:

network: quakenet
channel: #pontifex
(http://www.mirc.com" target='_blank'>http://www.mirc.com for the client)

This looks very promissing, I pre-ordered yesterday http://www.pontifex2.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

I really like the single beams. That's what makes it look like bb. Now the relese date is set, is there still going to be a beta? The beta was set for this week if i remember well.

And is it good for modding? Like adding new trains/cars/boats/textures/landscape etc? I'm a 3d moddeler and it would be nice to see my cars/trains drop of a bridge http://www.pontifex2.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>

Hmm.. 3D max 4.2 can't read mdl files ( i knew that), But even my 3d exploration app can't read the files from pontifex. And it reads about everything 2d/3d. Maybe they've made their own extension wich happens to use the mdl file type?

I'll try Maya later. But I hope they'll use a file type wich 3d max can read in pf2 http://www.pontifex2.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

[update]
Nope.. Maya 4 Unlimited is unable to read the file type either...  Maybe Game Studio or something works, but I dont have it.

Let me guess.. You never bought software before? ;)

When you buy software there is the risk you copy it (duh) so what's the point in returning it. You can't prove you haven't made any copy's. So look at the specs for the game and match them with your computer. Or try the Pontifex 1 demo first. And perhaps the pontifex2 demo later (?).

Here in Holland you can NEVER return software, only if the cd's broken or something and you get a new one (no refund).

About modding, doesn't the original Pontifex have the train model stored in a .mdl file? Maybe you could use your own models in Pfx1 already?

I will take a look at it when i'm at home. But if you could.. why didn't any1 else come with a model or something?

You should have waited for the pf2 demo perhaps Brinx.
It may indeed run fine, but remeber that the graphics in pf2 are better then pf1. So expect a harder hit on your processor/videocard. Though it may be possible to reduce detail and stuff (like the dynamic lighting)? And the singlebeams do not require as much processing power as the huge blocks of steel in pf1 http://www.pontifex2.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

On my old computer pf1 ran with no problems. Only the 'fast' setting had no effect in speed. With my new one I really see some diffrence

You could replace an existing vehicle model however.

Yes that's what I meant. A converter or something to replace the models. The Physics are hard coded i guess. So no *.ini files with the settings? (Just like the free game 'Racer', it lets you import models and set the physics for it).

But i'm looking forward seeing my high poly train in a game http://www.pontifex2.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'> For high end pc's it would be fun to create a high poly set of vehicles, if the converter is availeble I'll be the first one to download it ;)

12 days to go.. cant wait.. I dont think a beta will be released anymore?

BCS General / Mirc Channel

Dont mind the people who are in the channel right now http://www.pontifex2.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'> Just some of my friends. I needed 4 people to ask for a special bot. But there were no other people (hint hint) in the channel from the pontifex community. So I asked them to join the channel for 2 houres starting now.

They'll be gone end of the day/night/morning or whatever the time is where you live http://www.pontifex2.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>
