Submit scores to a server

I don't remember seeing it mentioned, but what if when a level is completed, your score is submited.  There could also be an option set in the level design that would allow the bridge design to be submitted too.  This would make contests eaiser, and for the "official levels" you would have a constant running score of levels to beat.

If a user is not on-line at all times, there could be a way to submit it at a later date, or if it was done through email, you could submit a hashed score.  This would also authenticate the design.  The number of broken links could be another paramater that is sent when the score is sent.

Anyone for or against this?  What are other benifits or flaws about this design?

Only problem would be getting someone to maintain the server. Gray maybe? He's got waay too much time making cheap bridges ;)

Klei: He's talking about having the submission feature *intergrated* into the pontifex .exe... which would mean your server would have to have some specialized code to keep track of everything, *AND* be online 24/7 or close.

Well, if anything were going to be submitted or tabulated or whatnot, you'd have to be submitting to ChronicLogic.com, mainly for security reasons.  ChronicLogic doesn't want users' information being e-hijacked.

The reason I mention this, is because there's some discussion of a Pontifex Benchmark, and so, submitting benchmark results and system specs, a la MadOnion 3dMark, would be putting somewhat sensitive information out there that it would be wise to keep safe, or at least, if not safe, ChronicLogic must be able to assume all liability for any mishaps.

Standard practice really...  I definitely would like to see some kind of submission scheme though.

I have no problem hosting a server at http://www.pontifex.cjb.net" target='_blank'>http://www.pontifex.cjb.net, but I need Chronic Logic to make the basis first.
